Vermont Teddy Bear Company

In 1981, John Sortino was playing with his son and his collection of teddy bears when he discovered that all of the toys had been made in foreign countries. Inspired to bring the American tradition back to its roots, he began to make bears in his wife's sewing room. In 1992, after achieving success as a direct-response gift delivery business, the Vermont Teddy Bear Company opened a facility designed and engineered so visitors could watch the step-by-step process by which the jointed teddy bears are made.
