STAR TREK: The Experience
STAR TREK: The Experience is a $70-million, interactive adventure based on the television series "Star Trek." You don't have to be a "Star Trek" fan, however, to enjoy this latest generation of "immersive" entertainment engineering. The highlight of the adventure is a 4-minute motion-based "ride" in a 27-seat "shuttlecraft," or domed theater. It uses a motion simulator with a six-axis tilt platform and specially designed viewer-perspective image projection. Film activity takes place in front of and over the heads of the viewers, as they experience the sensations of going "warp" speed and engaging in space battle-all thanks to engineers!
