Battleship New Jersey Museum
With 19 Battle and Campaign Stars, New Jersey is our most decorated battleship and surviving warship - a major tribute to all the engineers who built, modernized, and maintained her during her nearly 50-year career. Nicknamed the "Big J," she is almost 3 football fields long - the longest battleship ever built - and more than 11 stories high. Engineering upgrades over the years include Tomahawk and Harpoons missile launchers and the Phalanx defense system - a computerized gun that could fire 3,000 rounds a minute. Tour highlights also include the Combat Engagement Center, Lockheed Martin HomePort Security Testing Pod, and 4D Flight Simulator.

Fun Fact:The Battleship New Jersey’s nine 16" guns were capable of firing 6’-long projectiles weighing as much as a Volkswagen Beetle an astounding 23 miles. From her berth on the Camden waterfront, it would take just 52 seconds for shells fired from the "Big J" to hit the New Jersey Capitol in Trenton with pinpoint accuracy. (Don’t worry; it won’t happen!)
